Counsellor

Hello and Welcome

I am a Person-centred counsellor offering confidential, in-person, online and telephone counselling, for individual adults over 18 years of age.

I work from a private and peaceful therapy room near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

My clients are people from all walks of life who, for many different reasons, are finding it hard to cope and for whom coming to counselling represents a courageous and hopeful step towards a better future.

I know first-hand, both as a client myself and as a counsellor, that counselling has the potential to be immensely beneficial for anyone who is suffering and who wants a change for the better. At the very least, my experience is that counselling can be an oasis of calm amidst the storms of life.

However, deciding whether and with whom to have counselling can be daunting, and I hope that my website will help you begin to understand whether I might be the right counsellor for you. The right ‘fit’ of client and counsellor is crucial because the effectiveness of your counselling will depend on whether we can build a trusting relationship together.

If you wish to explore my counselling service further please get in touch using the button below. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. We can also arrange a 15-minute, free of charge phone call or book an introductory, without obligation, session of up to 50 minutes. I treat all enquiries in confidence.

If you are in crisis and need immediate help you can call Samaritans on 116 123NHS First Response on 0808 196 3494 or go to your nearest A&E Department. If you need immediate support you can text SHOUT to 85258 to chat by text.

Safety

Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person;
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but to pour them all out, just as they are…

Dinah Maria Mulock Craik

Understanding

Being seen, being acknowledged, being understood… Not to change into somebody else but to find a better way to be who [you] are capable of being.
That, to me, is what therapy is about.

Emmy van Deurzen

Hope

I have become convinced that healing… from even the most extreme forms of suffering is possible… I don't believe it's 'therapists with power’ who help, but ‘therapists with heart’.
